Low Cost, Low ESR, High CV, Rated Up to 150 ēC Operating Temperature

Matsuo was founded in 1949. Company sales are approximately $100 million. Tantalum capacitors account for about 77% of sales and film capacitors 23%. Matsuo also manufactures surface mount fuses. Tantalum chip capacitor volume production is at 480 million units annually and is expected to reach 600 million units by the end of this year. Production emphasis for tantalum chips is on the smaller case size capacitors.

Matsuo was the first Japanese company to manufacture dipped tantalum capacitors, metal case hermetically sealed capacitors, wet slug tantalum capacitors, and tantalum chip capacitors. Matsuo tantalum and film capacitors are characterized by smaller size, higher CV, lower leakage, and lower ESR than similar capacitors from other manufacturers. Matsuo capacitors offer superior performance at high frequency.

In Japan, NCC (Matsuo) is synonymous with reliability. Production is fully automated. Production machinery is designed in house. Capacitors are manufactured to a strict one (1) ppm control. Tantalum capacitors are 100% screened twice during the production process and also subjected to final inspection. Matsuo's reliability and development lab is among the most complete in the world. Matsuo has earned an impressive number of certifications including ISO9002, PPAP Level 5 at Delco, NASDA (National Space Development Agency of Japan), MIL, and UL.

Matsuo tantalum chip capacitors exhibit two exceptional performance characteristics:

  • Matsuo tantalum chip capacitors operate reliably at ambient temperatures up to and exceeding 150ēC with CV deration. These capacitors also meet a soldering profile of 320ēC for 10 seconds. One variant of this family will tolerate soldering temperatures of 340ēC for 10 seconds.
  • Matsuo standard tantalum capacitors, both leaded and SMD, exhibit typical ESR of approximately half that of any other manufacturer's standard tantalum capacitors.
